Recommendations/Testimonials for Cold Bore Customs:

Lane,

I just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you for the excellent job you did on my XD. The workmanship is great and the turn around was fast. I will definitely recommend your service to my friends and coworkers. Thanks Again, Deputy T. Tyrrell

P.S. The pictures of my gun on your website look great!

I would like commend COLDBORECUSTOM for the work that he has done on 4 of my glocks. I have tried many types of grips on the market today and by far the texture that is applied to any grip from COLDBORECUSTOM is long lasting and the appearance is custom. Having spent 20 years Active Army and 15 years working with the FED'S, a solid dry grip pays off in the end. I would recommend COLDBORECUSTOM and its work to anyone.
Thanks,
SFC Paul White, RET

Hi Lane,

I just wanted to say thank you for doing a great job on my G19. I got back to my office and gave it a close look over and your work is perfect! It is exactly what I asked for and exactly how I was hoping it would turn out.Great job. I will give you a shout sometime after Christmas to schedule the work on my G26 and G36. Thanks again, and a Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Lane,

I just wanted to express my appreciation for the work you did on my Glock 23 and 26. I have always loved the Glocks, but just didn’t care for the finger humps. By having you remove these and texturing my guns, I find them much more comfortable with a sure grip.Turnaround time for you work was second to none, and the quality of work far, far exceeded my expectations. You’re one of the good ones. Best wishes.

Lane, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the work to my G26.  It fits my hands much better now.  Your turnaround time was fantastic and will be using you for all my pistols in the future. I will be recommending students to you for work on thier Glocks.

Hi Lane,
Just got a much anticipated delivery from Fed-Ex this morning.I couldn't stop smiling when I opened it up and saw my frame with your work done on it. All I can say is your attention to detail is outstanding! I am more than pleased with the outcome! I have it all back together now and it feels and looks like it was custom made from the factory. Wow, what a difference with the finger grooves removed and the trigger guard undercut. It now fits my hand perfect and I love the "Carry Texture". I have some friends with Glocks and I am going to show all of them mine and recommend you to them.
Thanks again for the quick turnaround and once again, I could not be happier with the results. Can't wait to go shoot it now!

Best Regards,
Bill

Review for Lane Owens & Cold Bore Customs

I finally conceded and bought a Glock. I decided on a model 19. I liked the compactness of the grip and couldn’t argue against its proven track record. Within a day of having it, I added 10-8 sights, a Lightning Strike Titanium plunger and a Ghost 3.5 lb connector. I polished the feed ramp and the trigger components with a Dremel tool. I The pistol functioned flawlessly and shot well, it just didn’t point well. It also felt too slippery. I called Lane and explained my issues with the pistol. He dropped by the range and picked up the 19. Two days later it was back in my hands and I couldn’t wait to get it out on the range. Lane provided my with his grip reduction and texture package. This consists of filling the channel behind the backstrap and removing the “hump”. This provides for a flat backstrap and more natural “pointability”. It also reduced the circumference of the grip which feels great in both small and large hands. Lane also removed the finger grooves, added half-moon cutouts on either side of the magazine well and rounded off the trigger guard. He then re-textured the grip in his “tactical” texture. The difference was night-and-day. I couldn’t believe how much of a difference the grip modifications made. I see a 19 with a 26 sized grip in the very near future.

I ran across a particularly good deal on a Glock 17 RTF2. I liked the crescent-shaped slide serrations and was eager to try out the new(ish) Rough Textured Frame (RTF). I loved the longer sight radius of the 17 and the added barrel length provided a more balanced feel. I ran about 500 rounds though it and decided that I wasn’t very fond of the RTF nor did I care for the longer grip length. The RTF felt like the “thousand ants” sensation one feels from a waking limb. I called my ol’ buddy Lane and decided that the 17 needed the Cold bore treatment and then some. Several phone calls and numerous texts later we’d decided what needed to be done. What I got back was nothing short of breathtaking. Lane did everything he’d done on the 19 to the 17, as well as chopping down the grip length to a 19, grip frame size. At the last minute, I called lane and asked him about his “bark” texture. He explained the benefits and I decided the more organic looking texture would go well with the crescent shaped slide serrations. The pistol is, by far the best feeling, sexiest looking, Glock I have ever handled. The compact frame with the full-length slide provide for nearly perfect balance. The “bark” texture is the most secure feeling grip I have encountered, short of grip tape. The advantage to this is that it does not seem to snag as much as the grip tape, while providing nearly as much grip. I still wouldn’t want this rubbing against bare love-handles, but as a combat-carry texture it is unbeatable.

Lane helped me build my dream Glock. This is my leggy, rocket-scientist, Nobel Peace Prize-winning, million-heiress, Victoria’s Secret model who has no idea that she’s good looking.

I can’t begin to say enough good about Cold Bore Customs modifications. Lane is a real gentleman and a true artist. He has provided me with a means to feed my need for modification. The quality of his work is unparalleled. I hope my wife doesn't read this.

Lane,

Thanks for the quick turn around on my Glock 26. The grip reduction and now finger-bump free front strap turned out great. The magazine extensions you modified to match are very attractive and function flawlessly. The trigger-guard undercut completely eliminates glock-knuckle.

The 360 degree carry texture does what its supposed to and is a vast improvement over the factory checkering. The gun now sticks in my hand better than ever, allowing for quicker, more accurate follow-up shots during rapid fire. I find it comfortably abrasive. My girlfriend, who's smaller hand now fits the modified grip perfectly, found the raised texture a little too aggressive for her comfort. As you mention, the executive texture might be a better choice for the fairer sex and those with sensitive hands.

Put simply, this is great work. It's obvious you place emphasis on creating a professionally looking product. Anyone could grab a soldering iron and go to work, but this is a classy custom piece that I feel proud to show off to all my gun toting buddies.

I just received my Glock 23 frame back from Lane at Cold Bore Customs. I had him do the following to it. Take the hump down, 360 texture, texture around the slide take down lever and under the trigger guard and add a bobtail.

I have wanted to send Lane one of my Glocks for some time now but every time I was going to send him one I left town on business. Lane received the frame on a Saturday and returned it to me the following Saturday. Fast turn around time for this type of work performed.

Lane definitely has an eye for detail. His work is incredible. When he told me about him being able to add his latest feature a bobtail on a polymer frame I thought if he could pull it off that would be awesome. It is really great to see someone who can do this kind of work continue to push the envelope and come up with more ideas. The stipple/reduction process is a love/hate kind of thing, It is not for everyone. I have been carrying a Glock since 1986 and will carry one til I am no longer walking in the upright position. I can shoot stock Glocks all day long but when you have someone who can make it fit your hand like a glove I will take that over stock any day.

I have had several Glocks done over the years by various companies & individuals. Some good and some not so good. I can honestly say with out a doubt that Lane at Cold bore Customs exceeded my expectations. Definetly money well spent.

Lane, Thank you for the awesome work, fast turn around and keeping in touch through the entire process.
